.::Protocol Stacks

Virtual Console offers both Basic Rate ISDN (BRI ISDN) and Primary Rate ISDN (PRI ISDN) source
code stacks are among the telecom protocol stacks that can be licensed to developers.
Customers can license following protocols:

Q.921 LAPD Q.931 LAPB LAPM individually or as an integrated stack.

Virtual Console provides well-proven source code to accelerate the development and conformance
testing of in-band and off-band signaling products.
Protocol source code is architected for applications, both embedded and host-based, in which
performance and code size are important

For:

  • Base stations
  • Customer Premise Equipment
  • Intelligent networks
  • Signaling transfer points
  • Switches
  • Telephony
  • Test Equipment
Features:

ITU-T V.42, Error-correcting procedures for DCEs using asynchronous-to-synchronous conversion
(LAPM) ITU-T Q.921, ISDN Data Link Layer (LAPD)

LAPD and LAPM Platform:

  • LAPD and LAPM control
  • Platform-independent C implementation
  • Low level (HDLC framing, CRC computation/checks)
  • high-performance optimized TI c54 assembly language
  • Clearly documented interfaces, easily customizable
  • Fully event-driven architecture, allowing easy integration
  • Supports multiple channels
  • Configurable protocol parameters (timers, window size, error handling)
  • Connection statistics
  • Low-level events (each data or control frame received or transmitted, protocol events, etc.)
reporting support for easy system and channel diagnostics. Compact binary log format; log
decoding utility (to convert compact log to a human-readable text representation) is
    provided with source codes.
  • TEI management procedures as per Q.921
  • Optional REJ frame support
  • Optional link-adaptive timeouts computation

ITU-T Q.931, ISDN USER-NETWORK INTERFACE LAYER 3 SPECIFICATION FOR BASIC
CALL CONTROL (with U.S. signaling extensions).

  • Basic call control as per standard "European" Q.931
  • National ISDN-1 ("NI-1") signaling modification
  • (two logical channels per device, two SPID numbers, etc.)
  • 5ESS custom signaling modification (as per Lucent Technologies "235-900-343 Issue 4",
"5ESS-2000 Switch Custom ISDN Basic Rate Interface Specification").
  • DMS-100 signaling modification
  • Fully platform-independent C implementation
  • Optional diagnostic output (key call setup events and/or errors printed in
    text on diagnostic console).
